Maulomba

Participants are invited to design an object that follows an individual throughout their life and helps them achieve their goals and dreams. The object should be designed with circularity in mind, considering the materials, production processes, and end-of-life scenarios. Participants are encouraged to explore innovative approaches to design, production, and logistics to minimize environmental impacts and promote circularity.

The competition is open to students and recent graduates who are passionate about sustainability and the circular economy. Participants should have a background in design, engineering, logistics or related fields.

Submission

Submissions should include a 2D or 3D representation of the object, along with a description of the design concept and how circular economy and logistics were incorporated. The submission should also include a sustainability report outlining the environmental impacts of the object's production, use, and end-of-life scenarios. The winner will receive a cash prize and have the opportunity to showcase their design at a sustainability event.

Let's create a positive impact on people's lives through circular economy and logistics in design!

Prizes

Three winning entries will be generously rewarded with cash prizes. First prize €5,500, second prize €3,300, third prize €2,200.

The award will be given provided the winning submission is of sufficient quality and meets basic eligibility criteria.

Finalists will be announced in March 2024.

The composition of the first jury, the design jury, will be announced towards the end of May. Then, we’ll be back with more info, including the announcement of the final jury (big thing this year, as it’ll include top management people from two companies!)

Additionally, all finalists will have the opportunity to apply for a six-month paid internship at the Toyota Material Handling Design Center – in Sweden and/or Italy. As well as at Toyota Motor European Design Centre, in France.

Note: All cash prize awards are paid gross/before income tax. No prize alternatives or cash equivalents are offered. Prizes are non-transferable. The winner is solely responsible for all applicable taxes related to the acceptance of the prize(s).
